Rail Trail In A Day (97.1km)

This semi-supported event is designed for riders of all levels. Ride as far as you can within 10 hours — from Bairnsdale to Orbost — and if you’ve had enough, simply ‘check out’ at a pit stop and hop on the support bus back to the finish.

Along the trail, you’ll find manned pit stops at Lakes Colquhoun Rd & Partellis Crossing with refreshments, friendly crew on hand, and basic first aid available . Food, coffee and drinks will be available to purchase along the way, and you can finish your day in Orbost with a BBQ lunch/dinner run by the local footy club, live music and market stalls.

Registration is just $65 for adults, $45 for children, or $185 for families (2A + 2C).

Transfers can be booked separately in the next section. Options include Day Before, Day Of and Day After.

Accommodation is not included — you’re free to choose and book your own. 

PLEASE NOTE: If you are collected by our support bus you will be taken to Orbost. 

Getting to and from the event

The ride starts in Bairnsdale - Howitt Park (McEacharn St side) and finishes in Orbost.

Transfers for you and your bike are available as an optional extra for $50 per person, per transfer. We understand not everyone will need a transfer, so they are not included in your event registration.

When you click BOOK, you’ll be able to add the transfer option that suits you:

• Friday 16 October, 2pm — Orbost to Bairnsdale
  Park your car in Orbost the day before the event and we’ll transfer you and your bike to Bairnsdale.
• Saturday 17 October, 6:30am — Orbost to Bairnsdale
  Park your car at the finish in Orbost on event morning and we’ll transfer you and your bike to the Bairnsdale start.
• Saturday 17 October, 7pm — Orbost to Bairnsdale
  Finish your ride in Orbost, then travel back to Bairnsdale that evening to collect your car.
• Sunday 18 October, 9am — Orbost to Bairnsdale
  Stay the night in Orbost after the event and celebrations, then travel back to Bairnsdale the following morning.

If you don’t book a transfer, you will need to arrange your own transport between Orbost and Bairnsdale.
