The Coastal Wilderness Walk is a 5-day, 4-night fully supported walking tour through one of Victoria’s most remote and untouched coastal landscapes.

Beginning in the coastal village of Marlo, where the Snowy River meets the sea, this journey takes you into the wild coastline of Croajingolong National Park — a landscape of sweeping beaches, rocky headlands, coastal forest, remote camps and powerful ocean views.

This tour includes 3 guided walking days, 2 nights in Marlo accommodation and 2 nights in fully supported wilderness camps. Snowy River Cycling takes care of the logistics, including meals, transfers, camp setup, luggage support and on-ground support, so you can focus on the experience rather than carrying heavy overnight packs or organising remote travel.

This is a real coastal walking adventure, but it is not an elite hiking expedition. It is designed for capable walkers who enjoy nature, history, remote places and meaningful travel experiences.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Marlo

Arrive in Marlo and check in to your accommodation from approximately 3:00pm.

In the evening, meet your guides and fellow walkers for a welcome dinner at the Marlo Hotel. This is also when we provide a detailed walk briefing, including an overview of the terrain, tides, weather, safety considerations and what to expect over the coming days.

Accommodation: Marlo
Meals included: Dinner

Day 2: Marlo Coastal Walk & Local Immersion

Approx. 15km | 5 hours

Terrain: beach, clear walking path, uneven at times. A gentle lead into days ahead.

Your first walking day is designed to ease you into the coastal terrain while enjoying the local Marlo landscape.

After breakfast, we begin with a guided coastal walk from Marlo to Mots Beach, followed by a morning tea stop. The walk continues through Frenches Narrows to Point Ricardo, before lunch at Sailors Grave Brewing.

In the afternoon, we continue with a walk from Salmon Rocks to Sailors Grave Beach, finishing with dinner on the beach before transferring back to Marlo.

This day gives participants the chance to experience coastal terrain, settle into the walking pace, test footwear and gear, and build connection with the group before heading into the more remote wilderness section.

Accommodation: Marlo
Meals included: Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, dinner

Day 3: Clinton Rocks to Mueller

Approx. 15km | 5–7 hours
Terrain: beach, rocky headlands and uneven

After an early breakfast, we transfer by bus to Clinton Rocks, with a stop via Cann River. From here, the remote wilderness section of the walk begins.

Following a safety briefing, we set out on a guided coastal walk through wild and remote terrain, with beaches, rocky headlands and natural coastal sections. This is where the journey begins to feel truly removed from everyday life.

We arrive at Mueller Camp in the afternoon, where the support crew will have camp ready. Depending on conditions, there may be the option for a swim or kayak. The evening includes a relaxed platter, local drinks and a camp dinner.

Accommodation: Fully supported wilderness camp
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4: Mueller to Wingan Inlet

Approx. 19km | 6–8 hours
Terrain: sand, rock platforms and remote coastal sections

Day 4 is the biggest walking day of the tour and one of the most rewarding.

After an early breakfast, departure time will be guided by tides and conditions. The guided walk from Mueller to Wingan Inlet travels through remote coastal terrain, including beach sections, rock platforms and wild stretches of coastline.

This is a challenging but memorable day, with a strong sense of wilderness and space. On arrival at Wingan Camp, there may be a kayak option depending on conditions, followed by a camp dinner and a final night in the wilderness.

Accommodation: Fully supported wilderness camp
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 5: Return & Reflection

After breakfast, we pack down camp and transfer from the remote section of the walk.

On the way back, we enjoy a short rainforest walk, the Drummer Walk, followed by a final coastal lunch. The tour concludes at approximately 2:30pm.
